1. Turn on the emergency hazard lights and move to the side of the road.
2. Before getting out of the vehicle, assess the situation. Are you injured? If you think you're injured, stay in your car and try to relax. Ask someone to call for help and let a professional assess your condition.
3. Is it safe to leave the vehicle? Assess your situation and that of the other vehicle. If emergency assistance is needed, call 999 and ask for the police and any other relevant services you should require
4. Don't say the accident was your fault, even if you believe that it was. Be tactful and courteous.
5. Get the names, Addresses and phone numbers of any witnesses.
6. Be sure to exchange the following information: names, addresses, driver license numbers, license plate numbers, phone numbers, and insurance information.
7. If possible take a photograph of the damage of both vehicles and anything or ANYONE else you think might help your claim, either with your Phone camera or other. Even if the images are not that clear, the sight of you taking pictures will stop the other person from exaggerating the damage to their car.
8. Report the accident to the police if you have not already done so.
9. Call your insurance representative to initiate a claim.
